3 easy ways to improve your mental well-being today

Do you want to improve your mental health?

Mental health is just as important as physical health, yet it’s often overlooked. In fact, one in five adults experiences a mental illness each year. That means that if you have 20 friends or family members, at least four of them are likely struggling with their mental health right now. The interesting thing is that most people, especially men, will never communicate their struggles. And so oftentimes those hurting most are the ones we see all the time but never know the battles they fight every day. 

The good news is there are ways to help! And yeah, we’ve all heard the cliche stuff about exercise, diet, and sleep. But I would challenge you to be really real with yourself and give yourself an honest assessment of how you are in each of those areas.

In addition, here are three quick and easy things you can do today to improve your own mental well-being.

1) Take a 20 minute walk outside every day and get sun on as much of your skin as possible

2) Spend time with people who make you happy, making sure to laugh and enjoy fun unforgettable moments. 

3) Practice mindfulness by focusing on the present moment without judgment for 10 minutes every day. Sometimes the easiest time to do this is just before a meal.

If these sound like good ideas but feel overwhelming, know that even small changes will have an impact over time! And remember that taking care of yourself is never selfish – it’s always selfless because when we take care of ourselves we can better be there for others too. So go ahead and try out one (or all!) of these suggestions today! You deserve it!
