Are emotions sabotaging your performance?
A while back I experienced several transformative upgrades while attending the Tony Robbins Unleash the Power Within event. Now before you finish the eye roll and look for the next thing to do, stay with me for just a moment.
One of the most profound awarenesses I gained is in regard to my emotional home and how that was causing self-sabotage. You see, all humans have different emotional homes from which they engage in their lives. And each individual experiences a range of emotions throughout their lives, An emotional home can be defined as a habitual range of a few, often unconsciously chosen, favorite emotions. An emotional home is a place that a person will always find a way back to throughout their day, whether consciously or subconsciously.
When I began digging into my past and evaluating the things I’ve experienced throughout my life, I uncovered the emotions of anger, frustration, and irritability occurring with the most frequency. The awareness I gained is that those emotions were my emotional home. I was always finding a way to experience those emotions each day. This resulted in self sabotaging my efforts to be my best because I was operating from an unhealthy emotional home.
This habit prevented me from showing up consistently as my best self and living my best life. I was always intending to lead with love in my life but didn’t understand the way to best achieve it.
As I pondered my old emotional home, asking myself how to lead with love, the breakthrough came! The realization hit me like a ton of bricks. The most powerful emotional home that will allow me to lead from love is gratitude!
Since I arrived at this awareness I have made a commitment to practice a habit that has increased my happiness and joy and that has created a huge transformation almost instanteously.
Several times throughout the day I increase my awareness of gratitude with this simple meditation exercise - with my eyes closed I put both hands over my heart and focus on reliving past experiences that I am grateful for and embodying the positive emotions of those experiences.
Do you want to know the best part? You too can achieve this breakthrough!
Here’s a quick description of the process which you can experiment with (it may be a good idea to grab your journal and go deep within as you write out the answers):
-Ask yourself, “Where do I live emotionally?”
-Ask yourself, “What’s the antidote?”
-Practice the new emotions.
-Condition the new emotional home as your baseline.
If you want to go deeper into this and gain a better understanding of how to apply this in your life, go check out this YouTube video. You can do the exercise and implement this into your daily routine. Then watch your life and world transform!
How can you use this knowledge to increase awareness of the most powerful emotional home for you to operate from?
Once you have clarity, begin practicing new habits that will help you program your new emotional home into your subconscious. Then you will find yourself just experiencing more and more of that new emotional home as the subconscious directs the conscious mind to seek out and attract these situations.
Leave a comment and let me know what your old emotional home was and what new emotional home you’re now practicing.
