You can learn all the leadership techniques in the world, but if you don’t have the right attitude and aren’t willing to put in the work, it won’t matter. That’s why we focus on teaching leaders how to lead by example.

You see, the most magnetic and effective form of leadership is to practice what we preach and be the role model for others to follow. However, many people struggle with actually executing this simple yet challenging strategy.

On the surface, it can seem much “easier” to just tell someone what needs to be done. But we all know the old saying, “monkey see monkey do.” This always has and will ring true. And even if you can get away with the do as I say and not as I do model for a short while, eventually your leadership capital will run dry and your people will question your leadership.

People are attracted to what they observe and tend to mimic behaviors that are exemplified. This is why it is absolutely critical to be an effective leader we must first lead ourselves.

Because let's be honest, if we can’t lead ourselves, how will we ever be capable of effectively leading others? 

The great news is, leadership is a learned skill and you can learn to be a better leader and practice leading by example in every area of your life.

When you lead by example, people will naturally follow your lead. It’s very convincing to others when our actions speak louder than our words. Not only will they be more likely to trust and respect you, but they will also be more likely to achieve their own goals. Being a great leader is about making others better – and that starts with setting the right example.
